Bahrain police 'suppress protest'

Cynically the Bahrain government lifted a state of emergency and martial law just a few days before the FIA meeting to decide the fate of the Grand Prix there.

Almost at once people have returned to the streets.

Al Jazeera reports that Bahraini police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters marching near the capital Manama.

The Bahrain government continues to brutally suppress dissent and violate human rights.

How on earth can Bernie Ecclestone contemplate a Grand Prix in these circumstances. Shameful!
